Why more followers isnt necessarily more success

Everyone’s obsessed with growing the biggest audience possible.

“1M followers”

“Going viral”

But here’s the truth:

You don’t need everyone. You need the right people.

Let me give you two examples:

A woman has 1 million followers on Instagram.

She’s trying to sell fitness plans tailored to women.

But 90% of her audience?

Thirsty men.

Most of them are just waiting for her to launch an OnlyFans—

Meanwhile, someone else has 2,000 followers

but every single one is the exact person his offer is meant for.

He doesn’t need a viral post.

He just needs to talk directly to his people.

I’ve seen this firsthand both in my own business and personal problem-solution seeking.

Last year, I was desperately searching for a US accountant who specialized in a very specific international setup for my business.

Not an easy task.

Then I stumbled on a YouTube video—basically a university-style lecture where an accountant broke down the exact topic I was struggling with.

Only 2K views.

But within minutes, I knew he was the one.

He explained everything so clearly, I was ready to throw cash at him on the spot.

If he had posted thirst traps, he probably would’ve racked up way more views—but definitely wouldn’t have sold his accounting services.

(Or maybe that's an untapped market or a potential USP... who knows?)

Jokes aside - That’s the power of speaking to the right audience instead of chasing vanity metrics.

The goal isn’t going viral for the sake of going viral, but targeting the right audience for your offer.

I remember Alex Hormozi sharing another example:

A woman on Instagram with just a couple thousand followers. Most of her posts barely cracked 10 likes.

And yet—she was making six figures a year.

Why?

Because she specialized in software for dietitians, and her content spoke directly to that niche.

The real goal is to become unmissable to the people who actually need you. Chasing vanity metrics for a quick dopamine hit? That’s one of the dumbest trades you can make—giving up your privacy for a box of air.
